Moldtech’s founder, Wayne Gerhart, is an engineering grad from Purdue University and and Indiana native. Wayne was also an Indiana State Go Kart Championship winner.
Wayne’s career began in Indiana at Delco Electronics where he spent 10 years. Upon being recruited to manage a large Orange County manufacturing company, Wayne moved to California. From there, a move to Buffalo, NY was next – where he was enticed by the draw of then Buffalo Bills star quarterback, Jim Kelly. Four years after moving to Buffalo, Wayne seized the opportunity to start Moldtech. Since its inception in 1995, the company has continued to grow in its technology skills and manufacturing capabilities – both under Wayne’s watchful eye and Moldtech’s first-class workforce.
A Niagara Region native, Rob holds a 4-year Mechanical Engineering Technology degree from Niagara College. With a special focus on manufacturing, Rob was always destined to design and build things…he describes engineering as “an interesting combination of creativity with an analytical approach.”
Although officially in his 24th year in the rubber industry, Rob unofficially started when he was 16, while racing karts for a custom tire manufacturer who also made kart tires for many of the Andrettis early in their racing careers. His first official employer essentially become the largest custom rubber mixer in the world. From there, he then moved on to a large international automotive supplier working on projects in North America and Europe.
Moldtech offers a more manageable and nimble work environment, giving Rob the opportunity to be more creative and effective with his ideas. To help maintain his creative side, he is an avid photographer and maintains his knowledge of all things computer/technology.
